ALT FLYTEr (the 30 year exhale)

for saxophone and ensemble (23’)

ALT FLYTER is a piece for sinfonietta and saxophone, commissioned by Klang Festival/Athleas Sinfonietta and supported by The Danish Composer Association and Det norske Komponistfond. It’s written for Athleas Sinfonietta and saxophonist Oriol Pares. The piece is about joy, repetition, transitions and features a solo saxophone part written for Oriol Pares imitating how I used to improvise on the alto saxophone myself. A hermeneutic spiral. It was premiered May 2021 at Klang Festival in Copenhagen, Denmark.

“The opening concert for this year's Klangfestival stood beautifully in the room in the concert hall in the old radio house with its four meticulous, silent works. The largely unknown composers - Mads Emil Dreyer, Aron Dahl, Kirsten Milenko and Tyler Futrell had come into the hands of two soloists and the experienced, Copenhagen ensemble Athelas, and it left a beautiful impression of a bunch of young composers who will touch the audience and sharpen our attention to the details and nuances of the sound world.”
